I switched out from quicken to KMyMoney a couple years ago. Quicken had a feature for archiving th the previous year’s transactions and starting with either the same file or a new file for the new year. I can’t find how to do this in KMM. Having to scroll years of transactions is a pain. I can’t be the only only one who doesn’t know how to do this?
I have never heard about such a feature in KMM.
well, that depends. I don’t have this need for example.
I have more than 10,000 transactions in my main current account, and i don’t scroll often into the past. When i open KMM, the mouse focus is on the last transactions since i often work there… → no Having to scroll years of transactions
And by the way, i find an advantage to have many years in the same interface that the current year, so i can quick compare a few yearly transactions by filtering on specific key words, e.g. car insurance…
Thanks that will help. KMM is all I really need for my accounting, but I really like having separate files per year. I may have to look at GNUcash again as it has the feature. Maybe I can import the .kym in to GNUcash, do the year-end process, and import the new year file into KMM?
I don’t think GnuCash can import KMyMoney files. KMyMoney can import GnuCash files but not export them.
