Enlarged tablet mode experience not showing

After installing Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop Edition, at first, tablet mode was working just fine. However, now, Plasma still recognizes when the device is put into tablet mode and activates virtual keyboard and autorotate, but thats it. Nothing else. No more large UI icons. How to resolve this?

for me the fat icons/panel only kick in when touch mode is on. tablet mode alone just does the keyboard + rotate

id try:
-system settings → workspace behavior → general behavior → touch mode → when needed (or always)
-then: systemctl --user restart plasma-plasmashell

The same issue is still present. Setting it to “always” just enables the on-screen keyboard and autorotate. What version of Plasma are you using?

for me the fat icons need touch mode + wayland. tablet mode alone is just kb + rotate.

-plasmashell --version
-echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

if ur on x11 the big ui scale never kicks in for me

I have checked and confimed that I have the latest version of Plasma and am running Wayland.

wayland + latest and still no fat icons. for me that means the form factor flip never stuck.

id try:
-qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin org.kde.KWin.tabletModeActive
-System Settings → Display and Monitor → scale to 150% once and see if the shell grows
-kquitapp6 plasmashell ; plasmashell &
-check ur on a 2-in-1 convertible (lid sensor) vs just a touch display. touch display alone never gave me the enlarged chrome

paste plasmashell --version if u want.

These solutions haven’t worked, and I know Plasma recognizes t when im in tablet mode because it enables autorotate and the on screen keyboard like specified. Only the enlarged icons don’t appear.

After doing some more research, it seems like this was a deliberate moved made by KDE because they found it to be a “flawed” feature.

That’s too bad. I really liked that feature.
