I love press-and-hold.
It is possibly one of the all time great useabilityusability tweaks.
I hope there will be further evolution of this function, but in the meantime I have a small suggestion.
For those who don’t need too many of the characters available, it’s quite reasonable to edit them in the json file.
I now have Thai Baht on ‘4’… it’s more accessible than Compose.

£10 → $13.35 US → ฿443.5 is now much nicer to type.
Obviously any edits I make will need to be duplicated in a local backup, because updates will overwrite them… so they’ll need merging back in… but perhaps once the methodology has been refined, someone will come along and knock up a GUI to preview and edit the layout… that is assuming that this is independent of the actual keyboard layout (I didn’t get that far yet).
The general method with KDE Plasma is to copy a /usr/ based system configuration file to our own ~/.config folder and butcher it there.
What say you?
