Extra mouse buttons change sensitivity

My mouse has two additional buttons on the top of it. For some reason by default in KDE when I use these buttons the sensitivity of the mouse changes. One of them make it go up one of them makes it go down. When I hit the buttons accidentally I can’t revert back to the old sensitivity because the jumps of the buttons are not equal apparently, so I have to restart my computer. How can I disable these buttons?

It sounds like this is a hardware feature of the mouse itself. Is it one of those blingy “gamer” mice?

If you’re using a logitec mouse, I would recommend experimenting with Piper, a linux alternative to the Logitec G Hub application. If this gives the effects you’re after, you may need to add libratbag or ratbagd to your startup scripts so it will work on login.
