Failing session unlocking

Very recently I have had session unlocking failings with a black screen message to

$ loginctl unlock-session 2

And it successfully unlocks the session. It happens randomly.
I’m not sure but I think it started happening after upgrading to

qt6-qtwayland.x86_64 6.9.1-2.fc42

Notice it is the second 6.9.1 package. I know packaging is a Fedora thing.

Operating System: Fedora Linux 42
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.15.0
Qt Version: 6.9.1
Kernel Version: 6.15.4-200.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8-Core Processor
Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (31,2 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti
Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
Product Name: B550M DS3H

Any ideas on how to investigate?

I just came here to KDiscuss to research this issue, as I have encountered this also since updating to Plasma 6.4.1. I also am running Fedora 42 Linux. I am going to research and see if a bug has been filed in the KDE bug tracker and file one if it is not. At least we are able recover and the system does not crash or anything.

This issue has been reported on bugs.kde.org, and a resolution found. It looks like it is awaiting QA verification, so an update should be coming soon to fix it.
