[Feature Request] Auto Reconnect to Devices when Reconnecting to Internet

I use a hotspot so my internet (that my PC connects to) is intentionally turned off and on often. It would be nice if the KDE Connect app automatically attempted to reconnect to other devices when the PC reconnects to the internet. (Currently I have to stop the app and restart it for it to connect or just wait a long time).

To the Internet or the local network? KDE Connect works over the local network, not the Internet, as that would be security nightmare.

If you do mean the local network, that is the default behaviour already. If it is not happening, you found a bug. Please report it to

I see. I successfully use my PC connected to my phone via the phone’s hotspot. So I assume that’s the local network like usual.

Yes. KDE Connect does not and cannot connect to your PC over the Internet. They must both be on the same network (or see each other over Bluetooth).

That makes sense. Never thought about it, but that’s way better than going over the internet. Will do a bug report :+1:

Not sure it will help in the meantime, but I also tether to my phone as my main internet access this past year (both wireless and over USB), also regularly switching between e-sims as well. And throw in Tailscale for even more networking fun.

I find that just toggling the computer’s network connection off and on reconnects Kdeconnect on the PC. I don’t think I have had this problem on my laptop, or it happens much less often and I haven’t noticed.
