Feature Request: Thousand Separator and Larger Number Font in KCalc for Better Readability

I would like to suggest an enhancement to KCalc that improves usability and readability for all users, especially the elderly and those with visual impairments. Specifically:

  1. Automatic Thousand Separator:
When entering large numbers, KCalc should automatically insert thousand separators (e.g., typing 1000000 becomes 1,000,000 or 1 000 000, depending on locale settings). This small addition can greatly enhance readability and reduce input errors.

  2. Larger Number Display:
The current font size in the input textbox is relatively small and may pose difficulties for users with poor eyesight. Adding an option to increase the font size or dynamically adjusting it based on the window size would significantly improve accessibility.

These changes would make KCalc more user-friendly and inclusive. Thank you for considering this request.

This is entirely dependent on desktop settings, if that font is too small, then all fonts in all apps are too small…

You can set the font for the result yourself… I like it about 14 point.

However, I agree - Qalculate is my go-to and is far superior.

Hi! For what it’s worth, there are existing requests for these features in the KDE Bugtracking System:

If you’d like, you can add yourself to the CC list in Bugzilla to get email notifications whenever new comments are added, or the status is changed. Making sure the “Add me to CC list” option is checked, then choosing “Save Changes”, will add you:

Edit: Closing this topic and linking to the other, since this was double-posted
