From what I could see by opening the KDE File Picker in other apps, the grey effect seems to belong to the File Picker, not the browser.
Can this be replicated on a fresh $USER?
Right now it’s difficult for anyone to understand or replicate.
You opened the topic with the title blaming Firefox/Zen, but then you say that this is not a Firefox/Zen issue because it happens with other apps too.
This is like saying ‘My desktop crashes when I open the file menu in GIMP and try to launch settings’ when the truth is that ‘my desktop crashes when I try to open any file menu item in any application’.
