Hello - I am running kmymoney 5.2.2 and am having a problem with tags which is probably related to this thread: KMyMoney Tag Handling 5.1.3 to 5.2.2 but since that thread is marked as solved, I decided to post a new topic here.
For years in kmm, I have used tags to track the tax year of IRA contributions (which are transfers from a checking account to an IRA brokerage account). So at the beginning of the year, I create a new tag like “IRA 2026 (name)” for each account involved, and update the scheduled transactions for each IRA contribution with the new tag.
The problem I’ve had is that my kmm transaction report, filtered on the “IRA 2026” tags, is showing headings and transactions for 2025 (tagged as IRA 2025). Today, I decided to get to the bottom of this, and the problem is the scheduled transactions I use to enter these.
Whenever I’ve recorded an IRA contribution this year, the transfer source, (checking account transaction) is tagged correctly as “IRA 2026”, but the target transaction of the transfer, the IRA brokerage account, is tagged as “IRA 2025”. There aren’t that many of these, so I’ve just manually fixed the tags of the transactions in the brokerage accounts.
The problem is that I can’t fix the tags in the scheduled transactions. In the scheduled transaction editor, I can change the tag on the transaction and/or change the tag in the split editor (which I think should be the tag on the target of the transfer, the IRA brokerage account). When I then enter the updated scheduled transaction, the source of the transfer (checking account transaction) is tagged with whatever tag I set in the editor, but the target transaction (in the IRA brokerage account) is always tagged as “IRA 2025”. The only way I have found past this is to create a new scheduled transaction that has the correct tags on both transactions in the transfer.
So this is my question - in the scheduled transaction editor, how do I change the tags on the “target” account of a transfer transaction?
