I’m experiencing inconsistent behavior with Do Not Disturb in Plasma regarding fullscreen mode.
I use KDE Connect and have explicitly enabled “Show notifications even in Do Not Disturb” for it. I also configured a custom notification sound.
Expected behavior:
When Do Not Disturb is enabled manually, KDE Connect notifications are still shown and the audio notification plays. This works correctly.
Actual behavior:
When Do Not Disturb is automatically enabled due to the “while a fullscreen application is running” condition (enabled by default), KDE Connect notifications are completely suppressed:
-
No visual notification
-
No audio notification
This happens even though KDE Connect is allowed to show notifications in DND and has an audio alert configured.
From a user perspective, both cases are simply DND being enabled, but fullscreen-triggered DND appears to ignore per-application overrides and audio settings.
Disabling the fullscreen DND option restores KDE Connect notifications and audio, but this results in all notifications being shown, whereas I only want KDE Connect notifications to bypass DND.
This makes it difficult to receive important phone notifications while watching fullscreen media, even though the settings explicitly allow them.
Environment:
-
Fedora 43
-
KDE Plasma 6.5
