Hi, I’ve been using KOrganizer with my iCloud calendar imported. For some reason I keep getting notifications for events that have long since passed. I’d prefer not to turn off notifications altogether, as it is nice to get a reminder about an upcoming event visible on my desktop. But it’s annoying to get notifications about events on startup from days ago, and I can’t find any settings to change that.
The KOrganizer reminders page on each imported iCloud calendar is showing what it’s supposed to: certain amounts of time before the event. KOrganizer doesn’t seem to even support reminders for after an event as an option. My OS’ notifications are getting old reminders somehow. Is there some way to tell the notifications system to discard old calendar notifications?
For additional context, I’m on Fedora 42 KDE and my calendar is connected to the default digital clock widget.
Agreed, it would be great to have such a setting, like in Thunderbird → untick “show missed reminders for writable calendars”)
Somehow i got into the situation where i now have a barrage of notifications popping up every time i boot. There are about 80 or so notifications from the last 5 years or so freezing the desktop for a bit of time. I really would like a fix for that.
This is happening on Arch and Fedora 43 KDE.
Oh wow that’s quite rough, seems like more of a technical issue than my issue being basically a feature request.
If you are importing your calendar from a link or DAV server thing (like how I import my iCloud), then I may have a stopgap solution of sorts for you. In KOrganizer, select Settings→Configure KOrganizer→Calendars, then click on the imported Calendar and Modify→Only Sync Data older than… and try switching it to only sync data for the past few months, then hit apply. And if that doesn’t work, then try past 1-2 days (or 0 if that works). The downside is not being able to look at the history of your calendar. Maybe you’d also have to manually delete the older events after turning off syncing, but make sure to test with one event before mass deleting old events, in case it deletes them from the source calendar too.
