Is there a way to make the global menu works on GTK applications like firefox, OR Qt applications like Qt Creator

This has been going on for a long time - basically I just decided it isn’t worth the hassle.

F10 will bring up the menu in the top of Firefox, not in the Global Menu… which is perfect… it’s minimal without removing any function or un-necessarily cluttering the interface.

I just wish I could get back the LIM (Locally Integrated Menu - or, once again, menu’s hidden in Plasma titlebars until you activate or mouse over them) function which I lost with Plasma 6 too.

The Problem not only in firefox but in other apps like sublime text or Qt creator and F10 won’t fix it the only way to work with that is to remove the global menu

It happens with certain apps. Most of the times it works by clicking a qt app.
For example, Inkscape doesn’t show a global. But after you click, for example, Dolphin, it’ll show.

If you are on Wayland, gtk apps do not export the menu.

On X11, however, they work.

However, you can still get it by starting them with Xwayland. For example:

GDK\_BACKEND=x11 inkscape

### Inkscape

Success:

### Foot

Without setting the variable:

 ![2026-03-07-09-37-34](https://discuss-cdn.kde.org/uploads/default/original/3X/5/5/55327ee62505d2b628eacd9a5237ffe9abb4b245.jpeg)

With the variable set:

```plaintext
grahamperrin@mowa219-gjp4 ~> GDK_BACKEND=x11 foot
warn: wayland.c:1734: compositor does not implement the XDG toplevel icon protocol
warn: render.c:3079: compositor is not releasing buffers immediately; expect lower rendering performance
warn: ime.c:168: seat0: text-input::done() received on seat that isn't focusing a terminal window
grahamperrin@mowa219-gjp4 ~>
```

– and the problem persists. The global menu has no menus.
