Gwenview stopped working in Kubuntu 25.10

When clicking in a image to see it gwenview doesn’t open.
If launch gwenview from a terminal it opens but then I choose a folder with images and it crashes with this message:

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I tried to install also the gwenview in snap and that one crashes too but it says it can’t find libPlasmaActivities.so.6
but I can see that library in /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu and it is pointing to libPlasmaActivities.so.6.4.5 that also is present in same folder

I was installing wine and also didn’t work, so perhaps wine installaltion touched something. I have removed it, removed gwenview and installed again: sudo apt install –reinstall gwenview but continues not working.

This is a regression in kubuntu.

Thanks man, I will do that libexiv2 thing.
The workaround I was using is to install gwenview with flatpack, that one was working

that library is affecting dolphin, baloo, gwenview, at least.

unless everything is a flatpak, it’s gonna get you.

Likely this bug: Bug #2144731 “Multiple image apps (Gwenview, GIMP, gThumb) crash...” : Bugs : exiv2 package : Ubuntu

Yes was already linked in Kioslave 5 closed unexpectedly - #13 by tbonaccio

And a fixed packaged has been released so you should be able to unhold the package, i.e undo the workaround.
