I faved some effects and noticed they then started appearing in the drop down menu where TRANSFORM and GAIN etc are.
But the next day they were gone from that menu. I presume I have to save the settings somehow?

Where is that drop down exactly?
Any effect you make a favorite one show up in the effects widget in bold, can be filtered (click on the star icon in the effect widget), show up in the list of effects in the right-click clip context menu, and are available via the star icon in the timeline toolbar.
You don’t have to save anything in particular, it’s done immediately behind the scenes once you favorite an effect.
It is the right click on the part of the clip you want to add an effect to. as I said. I favourited several yesterday and now they are not there.
Hmm, that shouldn’t happen. Can you open a bug report for that, please?
Yeah. Just seen the procedure for that…I’ll just try hitting it with my hammer, first.
