Can someone kindly guide me, how can I add custom calendars like Google and other WebDav calendars here?
Google
There, offensive language deleted.
Have you tried the online accounts in system settings? There you can add a G. account and then enable the calendar sync.
I’m not a fan of integrating G. stuff in my desktop so I cannot check, but a while ago I did lthat way.
the problem is even when you can get it to work, it doesn’t work for long as G seems to hunt these things down and kill them on a routine basis.
I install Webcatalog and from their install Gmail and Calendar. Then just add their program icons to their own panel with a couple of other programs.
So basically avoid using desktop widgets and just run a web application…
Actually, no need to install ‘Webcatalog’ for that, you can just use ‘webapps’ from the repo, a nice software from Linux Mint that’s good for creating a webapp for any URL and choosing your backend, I use Firefox.
I’ve added all my calendars through KOrganizer, including a Google calendar and two CalDav accounts
Actually I probably should switch Gmail and Calendar to Webapp since on the same panel I have Protonmail and Proton Drive as webapp’s. Personally I would steer clear of Firefox for now cause they only recently made AI optional in the browser instead of mandated. I myself use Vivaldi for features and privacy.
Oh, you missed the part where they explained that the AI is just LOCAL AI - there are zero privacy issues…
You know, FUD is the best way to destroy any free and open software. Vivaldi is nice, but it’s still running on Google code.
If you take the Google out of Vivaldi, there’s nothing left.
Firefox is no more secure than Chrome. That said local or not introducing it at all when most don’t want it is wrong. Kindof reminds me of years ago when they switched extension engines and didn’t bother to tell anyone and broke over half of the extensions out there. There are still one that haven’t been able to be fixed.
Chrome enabled a great many Features Enabled by Default.
It is normal for software to do this…
There was a backlash amongst more ignorant users that this introduced Privacy concerns… and the suspicion continued despite Mozilla clarifying the matter…
The fact is that there was absolutely no privacy concern, and mostly the backlash is due to people just confusing the two letters ‘AI’ with online LLM models, feeling their privacy was being invaded…
However, as we’re discussing GOOGLE CALENDAR here, privacy is hardly an issue, am I right?
More precisely it is about WebDAV (or CalDAV) accessible calendars, with Google’s Calendar being a widely used example.
Meta discussions about browsers aren’t really helping, none of them integrate with Plasma’s calendar backend.
Plasma’s Online Accounts, as mentioned by @gcarlo_f, as well as KOrganizer or Merkuro Calendar, do.
I am running KUbuntu 25.10. I did try adding my google account to KDE Online Account, didn’t help. Also, I tried installing merkuro calendar. Whenever I was trying to add my google account over there, it was crashing.
Stop with the BS and stick to the facts.
