When I add a shortcut to the desktop, it adds a little “symbolic link” icon to the shortcut. This isn’t useful to me, because everything on the desktop is a link to something. It’s redundant and it takes up an awful lot of space from the icon. Is there a way to hide all these unwanted badges on the desktop?
That would need to be an option for the plasma folder-view aka desktop-view.
That would make sense, a user might want a minimally noisy desktop while using symlinks or links.
my desktop is a mix of icons saved directly in ~/Desktop and links to files in other folders.
i use this to manage my workflow so it’s easy to see what i’ve “filed” away—but still have access to—and what currently is just sitting on my desktop waiting for me to do something with it.
if they all looked the same that workflow would be broken.
if you want a cleaner look you can make each of those links into a widget instead which is a completely different layer of items on the desktop.
That’s why I suggested adding an option for it, and what @nycki93 was looking for.
