Hide panel even when mouse touches bottom

I’m using it on a touchscreen with a full screen app, the panel shouldn’t appear with touchscreen gestures, but when I “tap and drag” from bottom to top the panel appears

Hi! Just to check, are you referring to the panel in the KDE Plasma desktop environment? And is this a panel that’s set to “Auto hide” or “Dodge windows”?

If so - it does seem like it would be tricky to be able to access the panel on a touchscreen device if touch input at the edge didn’t activate that panel. In fact, there was actually a bug report filed at one point for Plasma (454642 – automatically hidden panel inaccessible using touch screen) because folks weren’t able to do what I think you’re describing, causing panels to become inaccessible through touch input.

Is there a different mode of operation that you’d expect for touch-screen devices that would still enable accessing the panel when needed?

Actually I was using GNOME before, and there is an extension to disable all touchscreen gestures, I can access the computer through VNC, then I can open the panel with the shortcut, is there something similar in KDE? I have already installed “touché” and disabled all settings, but the behavior remains the same, the panel continues to appear.

The bug report is exactly the behavior I want, lol

Ah - I’m not sure if the panel being shown is because of an interpreted gesture, specifically, or if it’s simply because the “pointer” represented by your touch input was up against the panel close enough to activate it?

There is an existing feature request, for what it’s worth, for a behavior in Plasma to manually toggle a panel’s visibility completely on or off: 158556 – "Manual show" option for hidden panel controlled only by pushing a button on a widget somewhere else

I think what I’m looking for is some kind of kiosk mode. I found a documentation about kiosk mode on KDE, but I didn’t understand how to configure it, do you know anything about this?

Well, it’s not what I want, but it’s what I have.
I was able to solve the issue with the “stay on top” setting.
I just need to keep the panel always visible and configure this setting in my application window itself.
