How can I see which apps are prevented from blocking sleep and screen locking?

VLC (installed as Flatpak) was blocking my system from sleeping.

It’s very easy to prevent it from doing so, using the Power Management widget in the system tray:

(This is great!)

The setting persists across Plasma sessions - I can reboot, start VLC again, and the setting is remembered.

However, when VLC isn’t running, I don’t see the message in the screenshot above, so I’m not sure where I can keep tabs on which apps are prevented from blocking sleep.

I also haven’t found anything in System Settings that tells me VLC is prevented from blocking sleep, neither in the Power Management settings, nor in the App Permissions (which actually suggest the opposite, i.e. that VLC is allowed to block sleep).

It think you are asking how to find all the config settings for inhibit.
Maybe you could recursive grep all the file in ~/.config for “inhibit” and “block”. But expect a lot of false positives :slight_smile:

Or you could look at the output of systemd-inhibit and see which programs are listed that currently running.

Kind of the opposite :wink: I’m looking for the settings that forbid apps from inhibiting.

But I bet it’s somewhere in ~/.config, you’re right, I’ll see what I can find.

Edit - ~/.config/powerdevilrc is the file. Grepping for “vlc” made it pretty easy.
