For data protection/security, I want to keep Kate from storing the last used files (a list of the last used files).
I know how to delete that list, but I want to keep Kate from creating it in the first place.
Kate only reads a history list, it doesnât store the files - they still exist in your filesystemâŠ
You can disable Kateâs âWelcome Screenâ if you donât want recent files displayed - then you have to access them through the menu.
To disable ârecent filesâ you look for âPrivacyâ in Settings - mineâs set to âKeep history for 6 monthsâ - but you can set that for all applications, do not remember, or âonly for specific applicationsâ.
So yes, first stop is your settings.
they still exist in your filesystemâŠ
Thatâs fine, no problem.
only reads a history list
Yes, thatâs what I donât want.

Thanks, it was somewhat hard to find because in the Germany version I have to open âEinstellungenâ (Settings) â> âKate Einrichtenâ (Configure Kate) â> âSitzungâ (Session) and there, under âSitzungselementeâ (Session Elements) I have to set I have to set âMaximale Anzahl der EintrĂ€ge in der Liste zuletzt geöffneten Dateienâ (Maximum number of entries in session file list) to â0â and remove the check mark at âMeta-Informationen ĂŒber Sitzungen hinaus speichernâ (Keep meta-information past sessions).
