How do I move task bar from top of screen to bottom of screen?

How do I move task bar from top of screen to bottom? I tried every item in setting to no avail.

It wasn’t really clear if Discover was updating the items either so I was not expecting an update to my desktop. Everything as been over hauled including the task bar from bottom to the top.

task bar on desktop

Wow, that’s a really old plasma - but generally just from the desktop ‘edit mode’ should make it obvious.

Right click on an empty spot on the panel, then Enter Edit Mode >> More Settings >> Remove Panel. You can also get there with a desktop right-click, then at the top Manage Desktop and Panels

Or something similar. It may be slightly different on your Plasma 5.27.5 versus the last Plasma 5 release, but it should be pretty discoverable once you are in edit mode. The Manage Panels option might not be there for you,

in plasma 5 you can enter edit mode by right clicking on the panel itself.

once in edit mode you can select the “More options…” button and find the “Remove” icon.

but the highlight that appears on the edges of a panel when you enter edit mode are not something you can remove, you simply need to exit edit mode.

I do my updates in the terminal, so I wouldn’t like to comment on that - I’m not sure if Discover has any advantages over Synaptic - and Synaptic is the system package manager which makes more sense to me.

My problem is I need to move my task bar from the top of my screen to he bottom of my screen. I am not trying to delete my main task bar from the top of screen. What would I need to do to get it back to bottom of my screen?

My other post have about removing the grayish floating panel you see above the task bar may have confused you. Sorry about that. Thank you for helping.

Plasma 5.27.5 is from May 2023.
Parrot Security 6.4 is from July 2025. You probably need to consult them for upgrade procedures and issues.

A note on naming:
The entire bar is called a “panel” in Plasma. Panels house widgets.
The Task Manager is a widget , as is the System Tray and Application Launcher.
Widgets can be added and removed from a panel.

What we probably need is a full screenshot of what you are seeing, so we are all on the same page.

But if you have a panel at the top and a panel at the bottom, but want the Task Manager on a specific one, you probably need to add the widget to the panel you want it on, and remove the widget from the panel you don’t want it to be. I am not sure if you can just drag between two panels.

That did work but it removes both the main task bar and the grayish panel above it. I managed to remove the grey floating panel here in this post

My problem in this thread is different yet related to the task bar. My problem in this thread is I need to move my task bar from the top of my screen to the bottom of my screen. I am not trying to remove anything in this thread.

My other post about removing the grayish floating panel you see in the pic may have confused you. The picture of my task bar located in this thread above contains a floating panel which further exacerbates the confusion. Sorry about that. Thank you for helping anyway

just right click the panel to enter edit mode and drag it to the edge you want to be attached to.
