How do you upgraded Akregator?

When I open Akregator it gives this message at the top, “Your verion is older than 1 year, we strongly encourage you to upgraded.”

In Akregator, I clicked on the Help tab, About Akregator, and then https://userbase.kde.org/Akregator.
On this page, under Download, I clicked on Kontact download page. This lead to a 404 Not Found page. Under More information, clicking on Website or Handbook also gives a 404 Not Found.

I checked the KDE Forum using the akregator tag, but didn’t find anything related to upgrading.

Using Discover, I removed Akregator and reinstalled it. I still get the ‘encourage you to upgraded’ message.

In the Konsole as root, I tried the command ‘zypper in akregator’. This resulted in:
Refreshing service ‘openSUSE’.
Loading repository data…
Reading installed packages…
‘akregator’ is already installed.
No update candidate for ‘akregator-25.04.3-bp160.1.2.x86_64’. The highest available version is already installed.

Nothing to do.

As I am new to Linux, I may be reading too much into this. Akregator works fine as it is. Maybe I should just click on ‘Disable version check’.

My system is using openSUSE 16.0 and KDE Plasma Version 6.4.2, with Akregator Version 6.4.3.

I think you need to learn about package management - you’re runningi SUSE Leap maybe.

This is a ‘Stable’ distribution which means packages are only updated to fix critical bugs, not for new features… so it’s normal for this kind of distribution to have old packages in the repositories as your zypper output confirms.

Leap 16 is supported to 2032, which is a very long lifecycle - if you want more updated software, you should consider Tumbleweed, otherwise just set it to disable the version check as you suggested.

leap holds packages back for years on purpose. if u just want a newer akregator without leaving leap:

flatpak install flathub org.kde.akregator

run the flatpak one from the app menu. can leave the leap package or yank it so they dont fight.
