That’s exactly why your example was so useful: Unlike Windows, which has significantly more complex and inconsistent collections of subsystems that comprise its API, macOS demonstrates that KDE4’s implementation wasn’t fundamentally flawed.
Obviously, software merely designed for BSDs shan’t adhere to these regional preferences, but that doesn’t matter much when so much does because it’s provided via a first-party API.
I was being facetious when I first mentioned BSD.
