I would like to hide track names. I am using waveform all the time to cut my audio and video. And at the beginning of a mp4 track there is a name covering a big portion of waveform and I have difficulties to see. My solution is then that I rename track to 1 or something, to have a really short name. But I would prefer if it is possible to that name would not be displayed or at least I can be temporarily hidden.
I know I could also make track higher, but I am working on my 15-inch laptop, not a big screen and it is not the bst solution. Thanks.
I don’t think that’s what the OP is after. If you switch off the audio thumbnails then you lose the waveform display that I assume they are referring to.
I don’t think there is any way to disable the track name labels at present - though if you zoom in sufficiently, they really only do cover a couple of frames worth of the track - and you can make the tracks taller, but then collapse the ones you don’t care to see that amount of detail for (with the minimise/expand buttons at the left of the track).
Those two things have always worked well enough for me to not be annoyed by this, and I trim and align using cues from the waveform all the time, and likewise consider vertical space precious.
If they really don’t work for you, you could file a feature request for this in the bug tracker. Being able to see the clip identifiers seems pretty fundamental, but we do show them in the status bar on mouseover - so there might be some sane option for improving this.
Showing the effect stack seems to be more troublesome than the clip name though.
