How to install Kmail newest version (April 2026) on Debian?

Hello,

I am using Kmail on Debian bookworm (https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/kmail) which I installed with Gnome Software.
This is the KMail version: 5.22.3 (22.12.3)

I would like to install the Kmail Version which includes this commit: Do not convert \n into <br/> (3782150a) · Commits · PIM / PIM Messagelib · GitLab

According to Gitlab, this commit has been merged into the master branch on March 24th 2026 and is planned for the April release, so i expect it to be available as an installable software for end users like me. The

my question is: where can i download an installable kmail software from, which has the April 2026 Release in it?
I am used to use AppImage for software when I want to have newest changes without having to take care of dependencies, but I see no AppImage file on https://kontact.kde.org/de/download/

Or is it impossible in my case (Debian bookworm) to use Kmail version April 2026?

You could try the Kontact flatpak as soon as it ships with the new KMail version.

I cannot think of other ways.

if you want the .deb version, then you will have to compile it from source unless on of the dev team at debian is willing to do it for you and make it available in backports
