Noob question: how can i simply mark a message as Spam / Junk?
I’m using IMAP and spam filtering is handled on the server, so all i really need is a “move message to spam” button, to move a message every now and then.
Please advise on the most basic, simple, easy approach.
I think the correct handling may depend on your EMail provider. In my current case each account has a pre-defined “Spam” folder and any EMail thats moved there, is marked as spam on the server. This wasn’t the case for my older provider though - no idea how I was supposed to do it there.
In KMail you can also set a spam folder for each identity, but I don’t know what that does.
BTW: when you right click on a folder and open “folder properties”, there is a checkbox “Act on new/unread mail in this folder”. Disabling this will disable the counter and notifications for this folder - might be a good idea for any spam folder
Yea i have a Spam folder, and also recognised Spam is being moved there by my mailserver / provider. So that’s working fine;
However, the problem is, when i get an occasional spam message that’s NOT being recognised by the server, and it lands in my Inbox, then there’s no button to “Move to Spam” manually… (like how all other e-mail clients have, in the toolbar or a context menu item.)
That does not work for me, apparently it only works if you install Spamassassin. That would be complete overkill - i don’t need (or want) any seconday spam management tool, as this is already handled by the IMAP server (also it’s a fairly complicated tool to configure.)
I just need a simple button to move Emails to the spam box. I’ve never seen any Email client that doesn’t have this basic functionality by the way
