I downloaded the app yesterday, shot some video and spent this afternoon editing my footage. I am totally impressed with this application. I am no youngin’. Cut my editing teeth on Vegas Video when that application was owned by Sonic Foundry in Wisconsin (sorry if I am repeating myself . . . I think I may have mentioned this in a prior thread, sorry).
At any rate, I have finished my first K-project. I am happy with it, and super impressed that such a capable application is available to all of us as free and open source.
That was my reaction a few years ago when I first found it (around 2021). I tried a few others that were probably better known, but didn’t really find any of them worked particularly well. Then a search threw up Kdenlive, so I tried it and it was exactly what I was looking for and worked how I wanted a video editor to work. It’s been my daily driver ever since, and it’s continued to improve since then - particularly in the last 2 years or so.
I have completed one project, now I want to explore whether the application has transitions other than fade in/out. I’m not into fancy, but perhaps a barn door or circular or something, just for fun.
The next release will have small previews of all compositions (transitions are essentially compositions). If you cannot wait to check them out, use one of the daily builds.
