I wanna report something but idk how and where to

I just installed Plasma 6.6 Beta 2 (6.5.90), but one of the features seems pretty incomplete to me. The ‘Hide from Screencast’ feature has to be enabled manually for every window every time you screencast. I couldn’t find a way to add windows or apps to it in the settings, nor could I set window rules to exclude specific windows from screencasts.

My dream would be if you could set window rules for windows you want to hide from the screencast, as that would be really useful for hiding specific private windows of an app, like a specific chat with a person. However, if that is too complicated or people just don’t like the idea, I think a way to make windows hidden from screencasts permanently needs to be implemented. In Niri, the window manager, you have a config file where you can set this, but that is kind of tedious; I prefer the KDE window rules, or simply remembering that this is a sensitive window and shouldn’t be shown in screencasts in general.

Also, the clipboard cannot be hidden from screencasts as far as I could see, which is kind of important.

Where should i send this kind of feedback?

Hello and welcome to the KDE community. Here’s what I would do. You could start out by posting about the problem (in forums category Brainstorm), as I understand your case: while screencasting you want to hide specific windows, to see how other plasma screencast users are dealing with it. Sometimes there are multiple solutions to a problem that one may not see right away. The more specific the topic the better. Other people may use this component in a very different way so they may not see the problem the way you do.

Then if specific wishes for improvements should arise from that one can go to bugs.kde.org and file a bug with the improvement idea. Again, the more specific the better and explaining why it is needed (the problem). For example product kwin, component screencasting.
