I don’t need any convincing, I don’t care.
But for your question about the name, read here: https://ubuntu.com/server/docs/nvidia-drivers-installation
This is for the server as far as I can tell.
In any case: there’s no nvidia config file in kde neon, and I’m absolutely sure about it until you can prove me wrong
I don’t understand the question. When the driver was installed with the distro, there was no configuration file and everything worked, including Wayland on Plasma 5.27.10. Then I upgraded to Plasma 6, noticed Wayland stopped worked, and then I ran the nvidia-xconfig
utility which created the xorg config file.
There was never a need to run Endeavour’s driver installer after the distribution installation - drivers are upgraded along with the package manager upgrades.
The driver is installed and operational, that was never the problem.
Idk what’s that supposed to clarify.
It doesn’t fkn matter in this regard.
Please I am asking you, stay away.
lol! OK! Whatever.
So you have one now, well, you sould confirm with your distro where it should be, I suspect /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf
as referenced in the link I posted earlier.
But what should be in that file, highly depends on what is on your system.
Do you want prime f.ex? I saw that available as a separate thing on endeavouros aswell. But you probably have access to prime run like I do so that might not be needed in there, but I do not know, refer to your distro and documentation.
Errors for one thing.
But this thread was meant for me to try to figure out what the configs are THERE and see if I could help a user with problems figure out a solution.
But maybe they all work on wayland now.
You should refer to your distros support forum for this because no matter what, KDE is most likely not responsible for your rendering issues.
I also am using a fresh install of KDE Neon. I do not have an xorg.conf file. KDE Plasma 6 + wayland works fine after the fresh install of KDE Neon while it is on the open source Nouveau driver but goes to a black screen with just a mouse once I install the nvidia 560 drivers from the graphics PPA. I have made all the kernel parameter changes for allowing modesetting and fb stuff in the grub config file. Still same issue.
