Recently there was the greyscale mode added to the colour correction options in the accessibility menu.
Unfortunately, this mode does not consistently turn all visual output to grayscale. Notable exceptions are:
- the grid menu
- the cube effect
- the cursor
- the cursor when a file is dragged or opened (this can be pretty colorful)
These inconsistencies may not matter too much for the Protanopia, Deuteranopia, and Tritanopia corrections. But they are really annoying for people with sensory issues (e.g. ADHD, Autism) which want to use grayscale mode to reduce sensory stimulation.
To be it was always annoying to suddenly see the colourful screen or cursor again when my brain had already adapted the grayscalemode.
I don’t know all too much about the internals of kwin. Hence, I can’t really say how difficult it would be to make grayscalemode consistent. But changing this would really help my AuDHD brain. ![]()
