Input/output errors please help, it’s like goes blank and this screen comes. It’s KDE plasma with wayland and zorin os.

Pls help with this io errors and everything like goes black on screen after using browser or something after some time. Always happening. It’s i7 dell intel iris graphics

Ofc no, it’s only 95 gib filled out of 938 gib

Those are ancient versions not supported anymore (KDE Plasma 5.27.12, Bugfix Release for January - KDE Community January 2025). The bug might be fixed with more recent versions.

Zorin OS is an “LTS” (like Mint or Ubuntu LTS or Debian) kind of distro that ships old versions by design.

If you want to use a up-to-date KDE Plasma, for a newcomer, I can recommend you Fedora Linux, or Kubuntu (they are listed in Distributions with Plasma and KDE Applications - KDE Community).

Those will provide new versions of KDE Plasma regularly keeping them supported. There are still a few quirks but they are rather minor (codecs on Fedora, snap on Kubuntu), those are relatively minor and well documented.

If I go with fedora then will my data will be lost at the time of installation? And KDE plasma will also be gone ?

Not necessarily but it would require some tinkering.

If you want to change distro the safest thing to do is to backup your data on an external drive, or use a different drive.

The more complicated way would be to create a separate /home partition, that you could reuse in fedora directly. But that requires re-partitioning moving data etc.

Then within fedora installer you can keep the /home partition and reuse it without formatting (i.e removing the existing data on that partition).

If your filesystem is btrfs you have other options to make backups/snapshots.
