When I try to install the kdenlive-26.04.3_standa.exe I get a unknown publisher error. I do I correct this?
hi, welcome.
i just tried that download using bottles on my linux machine and it seems to work as expected.
it runs the extraction, which creates a folder for all the runtime files.
where you then navigate to the bin folder to find the kdenlive.exe file and run the program.
what is the exact message that is generated and at which point in the process does it occur?
also, have you tried just re-downloading the the file from Downloads - Kdenlive
That .exe is the Windows version. You can use Bottles/Wine to install it but i recommends If you’re on Linux, you’ll want to install Kdenlive through your distro’s package manager or Flatpak instead.
If on Linux which version are you using (Fedora, Ubuntu, Arch, etc.)?
If on windows: make sure you downloaded the right exe from here Downloads - Kdenlive
If you still get the warning then click on More Info and Run Anyway
Yes, you have to do that as the standalone version is not signed.
I re-pack the standalone version in a manner that it is self-extracting by double click and you don’t need an extraction software (this was a request from schools to keep it simple). Doing this the signature is gone.
so the solution then would be to download the installer version?
so they get the install wizard on windows and it’s signed?
Yes, this is correct.
