Installed kda plasma destop eithernet connection disable

New to linux new to forum so forgive me for any faux pas I might commit

After installing KDA plasma-desktop my eithernet connection dropped. Wireless still works

Hi! Are you able to see the Wi-Fi & Networking screen within the System Settings application? Does your Ethernet connection show up there?

And just to check - was the package you used in apt to install KDE Plasma called just plasma-desktop? I ask because, just in case this is related, it might help to have a full metapackage, like kde-plasma-desktop or kubuntu-desktop installed.

I’ll give a caveat here - in my experience, installing two different desktop environments under the same user account often leads to something going wrong somewhere, as the two environments can end up “fighting” for control over some of the same settings. Some folks get it to work just fine, but if you’re looking to full-on switch to Kubuntu, it might be worthwhile using the Kubuntu installer directly to ensure you get all the needed components.
