As the title implies, the investment reports feel very limited, buy not having a default report that shows a stock’s Buy Price and the current market price seems absurd. I did capture the transactions correctly, but can’t seem to find any way to visualize this.
We are aware that there are numerous limitations and issues with how KMyMoney deals with investments. I haven’t looked at this particular report in a long time, but while the program knows how many shares of a security are owned in each investment account and the price history of that security, it does not track which shares were bough when. I am slowly accumulating a list of such issues, but unfortunately, a total redesign of investments is not likely to happen very soon. Also unfortunately, I don’t think there are any simple ways to improve things like this report without first making some underlying changes to the underlying model of how investments are handled.
I suspect that what you want can currently be achieved by exporting a transaction report for the investment account, and then doing the calculations and displays using that data, although that still doesn’t account for the price history, only the share price for any buy, sell, or dividend reinvestment. Thinking about this, I may file a wishlist bug to be create a report or export of the price history of one or more securities.
