Is it intentional that unmounting external devices are the first option instead of opening in a new tab?

Kinda messes with my muscular memory.
In relation to folders, the top option is always for opening them in a new tab, no?

Never gave it much thought, but yest rightclicking a drive should give have same options in the same order as rightclicking a folder with Safely Remove as an additional option at the bottom of the menu

I think that in most cases the first option you want to do is mount or unmount the device. And is for this that is in the 1st place.

Also, is not the same as a folder. You can’t mount/unmount a regular folder.

It’s the same thing for my internal storage, even though it’s impossible to have a use-case benefit from it.

Well, if we compare the use of the options:

  • We used twice the first option (for internal devices and plugged external devices but not mounted) vs 1 time the option to view files.
  • When we are plugging a USB (for example) things change and the use is the same for both options.

Options are Ok in the first case. In second case, perhaps it suits tastes but it is more coherent with the first case.

No if people are setting up tier external drives correctly they are auto-mounted at startup. The least used option should be last which would be Safely Remove.

Now that is odd and unnecessary. Another reason to move it to the bottom.
