I’m using two monitors, on both of them I set up the panels in similar manner, so both have system tray. And for some reason all notifications and even system pop-ups like “Welcome to Plasma 6.7” show up on the non-primary one. (Same with Steam Big Picture, though I don’t know if it’s KDE Plasma’s fault.) I had this issue at least since KDE Plasma 6.6, before that I got all my notifications on my primary display. Is there some option I’m missing? In the notification settings I can only select that they would pop-up near the icon, or in a specific corner, but I cannot select the display. Why aren’t notifications shown up on the primary display by default? I want to have system tray on both monitors, so removing it from the secondary one isn’t a solution I’m looking for.
(BTW. It would be nice to have an option to show notifications on the secondary display if a full-screen application is being opened on the primary one.)
Not that I know of, and not from lack of trying and asking. I’ve had this issue since moving to plasma6 using 3-4 displays at a time, @ngraham said it’s lack of multi-monitor awareness in notifications across several bugs, including my own. I finally got tired enough of it never getting fixed to build my own notification system outside kde, but it’d be easier for everyone if they fixed notifications to make them multi-screen aware already.
I’m marking this as a solution even if it’s more of a workaround. If anyone has the “Everything always visible” option checked for the system tray, you have to uncheck it, then set “Never show” on the notifications, then you can check that option again. Don’t know why it works this way, but it works this way. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@rodrigopedra’s, are you hiding the systray on the one you don’t want, and it moves to the other? I hadn’t tried hiding it on the undesirable monitor, I wouldn’t think that would work, but if so, better than nothing until the kde team gets around to adding some actual multi-monitor awareness to notifications finally.
On mine I have normally 3 displays, and used to run a full kde taskbar and systray on each display at the bottom. Now each systray has a notifications running by default, but notifications only appear on one display, and that display of the notification is NOT deterministic today around the “primary” display, and in fact moves around with any reset of geometry.
I use 4 displays on a 2x2 grid configuration. I have an application bar (a.k.a. top bar) on each display, each one with the systray.
On the systrays from the displays that I don’t want the notifications to appear, I opened its systray’s configuration, and on its “Notifications” entry, I selected the “Never show (disabled)” option from its drop-down menu.
On my primary display (which I keep always connected), I kept its “Notifications” entry with the “Show when relevant” option.
That way notifications only appear on my primary display.
I made a short screencast illustrating how to do it. There is a warning about disabling the notifications; you can ignore it as long as you keep the notifications enabled for at least one of the systrays.
