Is kwin_wayland unnecessarily burning CPU cycles?

No, but that’s a good idea! I’ll try that over the weekend when I find the time.

The hotspot-tool seems to be more interesting for the visualization of perf.data-files, great for developers, but I wouldn’t know how to get the data and how to draw conclusions from it. A bit too involved for me! :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah, I think I’ll try this with a new user account, maybe it will give us a clue. Otherwise I’ll wait for 6.6.1. and if the bug still appears, I’ll simply report it. At least it’s reproducible on my system, so maybe that’s helpful for the devs.

Thanks again, smash! :slightly_smiling_face:

So, I tried this yesterday with a new user account: the problem does not happen there.

I have no idea why this occurs, I do not use any kind of software that I would associate with this kind of CPU spikes. No idea.

Anyway, instead of trying to solve this I decided to reinstall Opensuse. I initially installed four years ago and I wanted to ‘clean up’ the system anyway (~/.config and ~/.local folders and such ). So that’s what I’m going to do.

Thanks to everybody for helping out!
