Is screen tearing supposed to be working?

Hi,

I’m just wondering with KDE 6.1, is screen tearing supposed to be working? I know that there’s a toggle in the setting and that you can set an ENV variable to enable it, but I did hear that KDE 6.1 shouldn’t use the ENV variable. Should it already be working, and if not, are there any ETAs for making it work?

With Plasma 6.1 you get the setting for this in the System Settings Display Configuration:

For this to actually work, you need a driver that supports explicit sync - IIRC Nvidia driver 555.58 will support that.

I’m running a 7900XTX – so AMD. AFAIK explicit sync is in Mesa.

So, without any personal experience, I think this should work.

Yeah, it’s not working for me. I’ll wait for another person to say whether it’s officially confirmed or not. I don’t know if it’s an issue on my side or is it still not working normally.
