Is there a possibility for supporting more image formats for Dolphin folder icons?

I just mean png and svg are quite inefficient by 2020s standards, and avif, webp, heic, heif, jxl support are already universal even on fresh installs in other applications. It would really be a great and much appreciated feature

A recent dependency was added to enable Dolphin to display thumbnails of .avif , .jxl , .webp , and other image formats.

But you’re confusing ‘Folder Icons’ with ‘Thumbnails’ aren’t you?

You can set folder icons through the Properties window… but there are limits as you say…

No, i’m not confusing thumbnails and folder icons. Right click folder, properties, select icon. only png, svg, svgz is selectable even in the current latest (not git master, latest stable) version of dolphin. Yes i have kimageformats installed. qtimageformats whatever that is is not available on arch under this name.
