I am using KDE on Fedora 40 and am facing the following 2 issues
File Search in Dolphin seems broken, for indexed directories.
Say I have two files called Test_File_12.txt and Test File 13.txt (Space seperated)
If I search for “Test 12” – No results.
If I search for “Test File” – The file shows
If I search for “file 13” – No results.
Ie: For Underscore separated files I can only search for chronologically ordered words (test file , file 12 works but test 12 fails)
For space separated files I can only search for single words(only test or file or 12/13 works in this case).
Weirdly if I select contents instead of file name in search then it searched for filenames correctly (I assume this is a bug)
Plasma search works perfectly.
Balooshow command shows both these files as indexed with “Test” “File” “12/13” as associated search words.
KDE can’t stop remembering history of recently opened files.
I have tried disabling Recent Files (Both for all applications and Selected application) but every time I open a file in kate or okular, It gets added to the recently opened files list. furthermore clearing history from settings also doesn’t clear them in application (Clearing from application works fine.)
Any help to trouble shoot this issues is much appreciated
If you talk about recent files within application’s menus that’s not the same of the recently used files in say Dolphin. Those depends on applications at least currently we have no settings that affects them.
Then what is the purpose of setting → Recent Files → Do Not Remember/Only For specific applications?
I assumed if i set it to do not remember apps like kate/okular wont show recently opened files
If i set it to Don’t remember then no application will show recent files
Is that not the case? as currently this is not the behavior I am experiencing
Lets say I go to setting → Recent Files → Only For Specific Applications and then disable kate or okular from the list below.
What exactly an I disabling here?
