I ran into difficulties this evening when I rendered a project only to find out that the openinf of the source clip had some sort of issue where it displayed only snow. I went back into my project and trimmed the clip (dragging the red doubleheaded arrow at the front edge of the clip right to eliminate the offending footage.
Then I tried to render again. My c drive where Kadenlive wanted to send the output is short on space, so I used the ‘configure kadenlive’ to set my defalt output to a folder on my e:\ drive. When the render completed, I navigated to that folder, but my mp4 output file was not there. I did a search and found the rendered file in a folder for another project (no other pm4’s in that folder). The mp4 that I found was from my current project, but still had the offending opening footage.
Frustrated at this point, I uninstalled Kadenlive and reinstalled it, brought the original source file into the project, used the doubleheaded red arrow to ‘trim’ out the offending opening footage, and, without doing any configuring of the application, the rendered mp4 was found in the project folder as I had hoped.
However, I remain puzzled. What went wrong with my first editing attempt on this project, and why didn’t my configuration of the application fix my rendering output issues. Why did they occur to begin with.
I love this application, and the good news is that it was easy enough to uninstall/reinstalll from the original installation file I downloaded several days ago.
Any thoughts on what caused my problem would be appreciated. On my first couple of projects, no manual configuration to the application was necessary. I installed it, imported my clips, and edited them without issue, output automatically located to my project folder.
Sorry for the length of this post. Thanks for reading.
