Kate 4:26.08.0-0zneon+24.04+noble+release+build36
Default package on a Ubuntu 24 (LTS) based KDE Neon when opened a bash script, in the bottom bar is Diagnostics and Output button. Output button shows:
Failed to find server binary 'bash-language-server' for language 'bash'
See also https://github.com/bash-lsp/bash-language-server for installation or details
$ which bash-language-server
$ whereis bash-language-server
$ npm i -g bash-language-server
Command 'npm' not found, but can be installed with:
sudo apt install npm
$ apt search language-server*

Fortran Language Server for the Language Server Protocol
Above linked github repository does not contain Ubuntu installation instruction nor mentions Kate, even it seems to be using bash lang. server.
kate is just looking for `bash-language-server` on PATH. neon does not ship it as a deb, so the diagnostics panel stays empty until you install the npm package yourself.
what usually works for me on neon/ubuntu-based:
```
sudo apt install npm
sudo npm i -g bash-language-server
which bash-language-server
```
then fully quit kate and reopen the script. if `which` prints a path under /usr/local/bin and kate still complains, set that full path under Settings > LSP Client > User Server Settings (or the kate lsp json) for bash.
also works without global npm: `npx bash-language-server` is not enough for kate, it wants a real binary on PATH.
