Hello all,
For my neighbor I have installed SolydK 13 (Debian Trixie with KDE) on a new Acer Aspire laptop. It is fully updated.
In the settings for the application launcher I chose the setting: Switch sidebar categories when hovering over them. When it is ticked this does exactly what it is supposed to do.
But after a reboot the setting is switched off again, the tick box is empty.
that hover tick is switchCategoryOnHover on the kickoff applet. for me it can get wiped after reboot on some builds
-right click the launcher → Configure Application Launcher → tick it → Apply
-then check:
grep -n switchCategoryOnHover ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc
should show true
-if reboot flips it off, set that key to true in the file and log out/in
Thank you for your answer.
I tried the command in the terminal before and after I made the change in the settings of the launcher, but in both cases I get no result at all.
I have opened the file ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc in Kate but switchCategoryOnHover is not in that file.
Are you sure the command is correct?
I did find out it is the kickoff menu.
In ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc, in the kickoff part I pasted switchCategoryOnHover=true but even with that text in that file, after log out/in the menu doesn’t change when I hover the mouse over the different parts of it.
Plus, when I open the kickoff menu for editing, the tickbox is still empty. Switch category only works when I manually switch the tickbox to on.
