Hello, first post here, sorry if I’m missing any etiquette. My first goal with KDE Connect is simply to get Outlook notifications on my desktop sent to my phone. I’m running Windows 11 on my laptop and GrapheneOS on my smartphone (Android 17). My method for generating test notifications on my laptop is to send HTML5 web notifications using www.bennish.net/web-notifications.html.
The desktop app version is 26.04.2 and the mobile app version is 1.35.13.
What I’ve tried to far:
Sent test pings from my desktop. Those display on my phone just fine.
Turned on the sending and receiving notifications plugins on KDE Connect mobile and desktop apps.
Ensured KDE Connect Android has permission in my phone settings to send notifications from other devices. Notably, this is listed as an “unused category.”
Turned on notification read, reply and control authorization for the mobile app.
Gave the mobile app unrestricted battery access and permission to display over other apps.
Turned on GrapheneOS exploit protection compatability mode.
Entirely possible I’m missing something simple. Highly appreciate any input!
Can’t “me too” as I’m a Kubuntu newbie, but since the Email to text gateways have mostly been closed down or made unreliable, I’m in the market for a way to get MMS text notifications from my security system to our cellphones. Must include an image of the AI detection. I’m looking at Telegram and Pushover but the problem is I need to install stuff on my wife’s phone and teach her how to use it. For the time being we use Email which shows that half or more of the Email to text MMS never get through or are delayed for hours.
I had the same problem, though on Fedora, so this may not apply to you. I didn’t receive any notifications initially.
In the KDE Connect desktop app’s Plugin settings, I changed the Send notifications minimum priority to 2. Urgent notifications started working after this.
I then changed it back to 0, and most other notifications now also work. Some notifications are still not relayed from desktop to mobile, like Thunderbird.
on windows the desktop app also needs the OS to actually let it read notifications, not just send them. Settings → System → Notifications → scroll to KDE Connect and make sure it’s allowed, then in the KDE Connect plugin list confirm the apps you care about (Outlook / browser) aren’t filtered out.
pings working just means the link is fine. the notification relay is a separate permission on the windows side for me. if outlook still won’t go after that, try a plain Edge notification from that bennish test page again with the filter set wide open.
