KDE Connect mouse/keyboard input from phone to PC stopped working

I tried posting a bug on the bug tracker, but there has been no reaction, so I’m falling back to: maybe someone here will be able to help me find a workaround.

About a week ago, I ran ujust update on my system then rebooted when prompted. There wasn’t a major OS version or anything. I honestly don’t know what updated – the output from that command is pretty unclear, and even if it were clear, I would have forgotten quickly. I think it may just have been a few brew packages?

Anyway, since then, KDE Connect hasn’t been working right.

My phone (Samsung Galaxy S22+) can ping my PC, and vice versa. My phone can run my saved commands on my PC just fine.

But the main thing I use KDE Connect for, controlling my mouse and keyboard from my phone, doesn’t work anymore.

There aren’t any error messages. From the phone, everything seems to be working fine. But the mouse cursor on the PC doesn’t move, and keyboard inputs aren’t doing anything on the PC either. Also, I don’t really use this feature, but clipboard syncing doesn’t seem to be working either.

I have tried unpairing and re-pairing. I have tried uninstalling the Android app and re-installing it, restarting setup from scratch.

I could not, however, try uninstalling and reinstalling KDE Connect on the PC. When I find it in the start menu and click Uninstall or Manage Add-Ons in the context menu, it only opens Bazaar and says “Could not find app” (ID ‘org.kde.kdeconnect’ was not found).

I assume it just can’t be uninstalled since it comes with the system.

KDEConnect remote input stopped working for me about 2 weeks ago, on a vanilla kubuntu 26.04. I switched to an X11 session ( after sudo apt install plasma-session-x11) and remote input works again.

I imagine the command for doing that would be different on Bazzite?

By the way, what would the consequences of using X11 be? I’m not very knowledgeable about Linux.

the command would be different and the package name may be different (if it is even offered).

a bazzite forum would be a better place to get that information.

IIUC bazzite is based on Fedora, which has removed X11 support.

Ah. It’s indeed based on Fedora.
