KDE-Dolphin ? SMB login not saved

Hello All,

Thank you for your assistance.

Previously was able to add SMB & the username & passwords were saved. Not sure what went wrong, but now even opening a new tab (in the file explorer) requires me to enter my username & password for the SMB?

How could this be avoided please? Would prefer to have it accessible until i delete the SMB as it was before …

Please help.

@Kode:

Is KWallet up and running and initialised with a Wallet named “kdewallet”?

Is the KDE System as such, authorised to read and write from that Wallet?

Thanks, i disabled KDEWALLET because it kept prompting me enter a passwd every time i launched a browser.

Could i remove KDEWALLET and still use the SMB please?

i actually posted my issue with KDEWALLET but the forum rules doesn’t allow me to post the link. Title “kde-with-rocky-linux-10v-kdewallet”

Appreciate the reply. :folded_hands:

@Kode:

The only Internet Browser on this system which has entry in the kdewallet list of applications which need to access the password wallet is “Chromium”.

  • You should enable the Check-Box for “Prompt when an application accesses a wallet” in the KDE Plasma System Settings –

When you enable the Check-Box, you will be prompted whenever the application is started – select the option to trigger “Always Allow” …

Disabling KDE Wallet is documented here: <Disable KWallet>.

Thank you, already tried to find the file to disable KDEwallet but it didn’t exist, that was why i used the check box option. Also changing the passwd to an empty entry does stop the prompt, hence i am able to connect to SMB without losing the login after every reboots. I will try the ‘Allow’ from the access control option.

Appreciate your time to assist me :folded_hands:
