KDE Plasma 6.6.0: Application Dashboard won't run app when pressing Enter

Hey guys! CachyOS user here. I just updated from Plasma 6.5.x to 6.6.0 and now the Application Dashboard won’t run an app when typing in its name and pressing enter.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Application Dashboard
  2. Type e.g. keepa
  3. Press Enter key

Current Result:

Enter key doesn’t run first app at top of the search results.

Expexted Result:

Restore old behaviour: Enter key launches whatever is at the top of the search results.

Workaround:

Press down arrow key after step 2, then Enter.

I can reproduce this. It seems as if there is no bug report for this just yet: Bugs filtered for Application Dashboard

You should report this. If you need assistance with it, feel free to contact me.

I just submitted a fix, so a bug report is no longer necessary in this particular case, but in general please file bugs for such issues so that we’re guaranteed to see it.

This is awesome news! And yeah you’re right, this should have gone into the bug tracker. Making a note for next time.

Thank you! I was unsure to submit a bug report as this seem mostly a “feature request” but thankfully I’ve searched here before.

Feature requests are also tracked bug reports, so feel free to submit them. Ideally, set the priority to “Wishlist”.

But in this case it’s (a) a regression, so a bug and (b) even if it wasn’t, it should to follow our usual enter semantics, so it would be an usability/UI consistency bug.
