KDE Plasma clipboard not working

So I installed Arch Linux and KDE Plasma. At first, pressing Meta + V shortcut run a clipboard window containing all the contents I copied. The next day, pressing Meta + V did not do anything. I really don’t know what’s the problem. I checked the shortcuts and everything is fine there. /usr/bin/klipper does not exist if that helps.

usr/bin/kilpper not existing is a problem… as i have a 300kb file there.

do you still have the clipboard icon in the system tray?

what happens when you click on that?

restore the file and it should start working again.

Hi! Just a couple of things to check - is the Clipboard widget either visible on the tray, or in the expanded tray pop-up?

If not, try heading to the settings icon in that tray pop-up, then the Entries page, then down to Clipboard in the System Services section - and make sure that it’s not set to “Disabled”:

@skyfishgoo Just FYI, in Plasma 6, I don’t have /usr/bin/klipper either  As far as I know, the Clipboard manager is a plasmoid located in /usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.clipboard/

I had removed system tray widget from my panel. I added it again to answer your question and I was a able to see clipboard icon. Pressing it worked and also Meta + V worked again. Then I removed the system tray widget from my panel and Meta + V stopped working. For some reason Meta + V works only when system tray widget is in my panel. I’m new in KDE so I can’t understand how this works. Thanks

So in order for Meta + V to work, clipboard icon should be visible in system tray widget on my panel? I found out that restoring it, because I had it removed, makes Meta + V functional again. Can I make Meta + V work while not having system tray widget on my panel? (By the way /usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.clipboard/ directory does exist in my computer)

did you choose hidden or disabled to remove it?

disabled does what is says.

but we had the same issue with the media player where media buttons would no longer work if you disabled the media icon in the system tray, and they supposedly fixed that in plasma 6

disabled really should only apply to what is going on with the system tray, not actually functions.

Yes, those are coupled together currently - there’s a feature request in the KDE Bugtracking System to de-couple those things: 423625 – Keep Clipboard Manager service going when clipboard tray icon disabled

That looks like something that will just require someone with the time, ability and interest to jump in and figure out how to implement
