KDE Plasma v 6.3.6 (in MX Linux 25)... no "preview" in MX Boot Options "Splash"... bug?

Not at all urgent… just curious if this is a bug?

I’m using MX Linux 25 with the KDE Plasma v 6.3.6 desktop and like it very much as I try to escape from Microsoft.

MX Linux gives the user a long list of “splash” screen options to be shown at startup, but the “preview” button is always grayed out on my system, so it takes a couple of minutes to change a theme, reboot to view the changes.

I noticed some old YouTube videos of older MX Linux versions where this “Preview” button was enabled.

Is this now grayed out intentionally or a bug (in KDE or maybe in MX Linux separate from KDE)?

In Plasma 6.5.4 (and all others before) works well.

To know if is an error of MX Linux or KDE Plasma, you can try to download a live image of other Linux flavour. openSUSE TW for example.

To download an ISO of the openSUSE KDE Live press the below “Download” button:

It must be a bug in MX Boot Options tool.
Previews are displayed in KDE Plasma System Settings as long as a preview.png file exists.
I can see them in both Debian 14 (testing) and Debian 13 (stable).
