KDE/Qt apps spawn transparent “ghost” windows and lose input focus on Plasma 6.4.5 (Wayland)

On Plasma 6.4.5 (Wayland), launching KDE apps such as System Settings or Dolphin spawns an additional transparent “ghost” window whenever interacting with input fields. This window intermittently steals focus and sometimes flickers, making input unreliable.

System Information:

  • Plasma Shell: 6.4.5
  • KWin (Wayland): 6.4.5
  • Qt6 Base: 6.9.2-1
  • Qt6 Wayland: 6.9.2-1
  • Distro: Arch Linux (fully updated)

What exactly causes this :
For example-

  1. Start a Wayland Plasma session.
  2. Launch systemsettings6.
  3. Click on any text input or settings item.
  4. I observe an additional transparent window appearing in the taskbar and input focus loss.

What I’ve Observed:
A transparent second window appears. Input focus is lost or flickers rapidly. The issue affects multiple KDE applications.

Additional Observations:

  • Occurs on both Plasma Wayland and when running KDE apps under Hyprland.
  • Forcing X11 backend (QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb) avoids the issue.
  • Disabling blur/transparency reduces but does not eliminate the behavior.
  • Possibly related logs:
qt.qpa.wayland: qtvirtualkeyboard currently is not supported at client-side
QThreadStorage: entry destroyed before end of thread
  • Likely introduced after Qt 6.9.1 → 6.9.2 update.

I don’t know what to do , I can’t seem to find a proper solution
