KDEConnect started recently crashing my wifi connection on Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565

Hello, recently ive started to have issues with WIFI disconnecting automatically on Aurora on a December build, when before in November it used to work perfectly, I have thought it was a Aurora issue then I moved on, I have tried Fedora KDE Desktop, updated packages to the latest version and same thing, it was only on KDE Plasma at that moment but when I tried installing kde connect just to have connectivity with my phone on Fedora COSMIC it literally gave the same effect as if I was on KDE Plasma. And I have thought maybe it would work on a Arch base, so I tried Manjaro and on live boot wifi kept disconnecting automatically as it did on Fedora base.

The laptop I am using is Dell Inspiron 3542 and the network controller I am using is Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565

Can anyone help?

Hi,

there seems to be an issue with Qualcom network chips in general, apparently for years (see reddit thread “Guide for Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter” sadly I can’t post the direct link here).
Some have the crashing wifi, like you described. Others have high ping and slow download speed.

There are some people on a reddit thread who offered solutions that worked for some (sadly not me).

Cheers
